issue is that basically GridView.Rows is separate collection having separate GridViewRow objects (reference to them) which is created at the point the collection is instantiated. I think you should aim for a bit another kind of solution.

unfortunately client-side scripting in IE webcontrols isn't compatible with Firefox.The best you can do is to revert to not to use client-side scripting (IIRC, you can set EnableClientScript to the TreeView) or just upgrade to ASP.NET 2.0, since it has cross-browser compatible TreeView control.
